Light is the New Black

The Literary Lollipop

Light is the new black

Even though I’m a fairly practical, logical person, I’m a hippie at heart, and have a tendency to read spiritual books of the holistic, pie-in-the-sky nature. However, my practical self is very quick to roll its eyes at everything the right side of my brain enjoys: Art? Creativity? Play? Hardly the foundation of a lucrative career. Sneer, snort, shoulder shrug. Give it up, already! But, it’s especially when this voice gets too loud that I actively look for esoteric, spiritual books to read, through which I hope to wash away all that toxic pessimism.Well, most of it, as it never completely disappears.

As such, I read Light is the New Black by Rebecca Campbell with two competing voices in…

Shenanigans in the air

The Continuing Adventures of Falstaff Wild

Biggles would turn a whiter shade of pale, cough politely and leave the room! Falstaff was one of those real Gin swilling swingers of the roaring 1920s, an aviator whose priority wasn’t always ‘getting the Hun’, but chasing skirt, fornicating with flappers and having a jolly good time of it!

Tired of a respectable Biggles, lost without Flashman, can’t get enough Bond? Falstaff is the Black Sheep you are looking for!

Trouble is, that sort of behaviour can bring the service into disrupt! Once discharged from the RAF Falstaff wondered east. The lure of Shanghai, Tokyo and Polynesia kept him away from Europe. That was, until he was broke and cut off by his father. Now a mercenary, in the Spanish Civil war, China and Nanking, – Falstaff become not just an Ace but a legend! Writing without coffee?

Like this? Don't; Like this a lot!

The Long Hard Highway.  I’ve been this way before, but I’m still not getting there.  This collection of poems was written nearly 20 years ago, – almost forgotten.

  • About the book

These stories and poems are from my past.  There is no context, other than my memory.  I continue to write and I continue to struggle to balance my condition Myalgic Encephalitis; with stress, anxiety and depression.  Once, before diagnosis I could not describe my symptoms – after, I found I could remember everything back from when it started 20 years ago.
